- To possess knowledge and implement internal and external laboratory quality assurance programme
- To ensure accuracy and timeliness of laboratory operation
- To implement standard laboratory practices & policies
- To implement quality improvement initiative
- To report cases of hematology, clinical biochemistry, cytology and fluid analysis
- To train and guide pathology technicians
- To ensure report turn around times are met in accordance to policies laid down
- To co-ordinate with central lab purchase and supervise inventory management
- To escalate problems to operations in charge, if any to run the operations smoothly
- To provide support to the medical staff in performing laboratory testing
- examine and talk to a range of patients, using diagnostic skills to determine what tests need to be carried out
- support and advise clinical staff to help them choose the correct tests
- provide advice and interpretation of test results and the appropriateness of further investigations
