Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in Reconstructive Ophthalmology to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will diagnose and manage complex ophthalmic and oculoplastic conditions, perform reconstructive surgical procedures, and deliver high-quality patient-centered eye care aligned with international clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage ophthalmic and periocular disorders requiring reconstructive and oculoplastic intervention.
- Perform reconstructive ophthalmic surgeries including eyelid reconstruction, lacrimal surgeries, orbital procedures, trauma reconstruction, and functional eyelid surgeries.
- Evaluate and manage patients with orbital diseases, eyelid malpositions, tumors, facial trauma, and tear drainage disorders.
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology consultations.
- Collaborate with ENT, maxillofacial, plastic surgery, oncology, and multidisciplinary teams for complex reconstructive cases.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, audits, and continuous medical education programs.
- Provide patient and family counseling regarding treatment plans, surgical procedures, and postoperative care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
- Board Certification / Fellowship in Ophthalmology with subspecialty training in Oculoplastic/Reconstructive Ophthalmology.
- Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Ophthalmology.
- Minimum 5–7 years of post-specialist experience in reconstructive ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.
- Expertise in advanced reconstructive and orbital surgical procedures.
- Strong communication and patient management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in tertiary eye care or academic medical centers.
- Exposure to complex orbital and facial reconstructive surgeries.
- Research and teaching experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare environment.
