Position Title: Consultant, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)

Role Summary
The Consultant in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation provides expert evaluation, treatment, and long‑term management for patients with physical injuries, disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, and chronic conditions. The role involves leading multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs, developing individualized treatment plans, and utilizing advanced technologies and evidence‑based techniques to optimize patient function and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with physical impairments, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological conditions, and functional disabilities.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans aimed at restoring mobility, function, and independence.
- Utilize a wide range of therapeutic modalities including exercise therapy, manual therapy, electrotherapy, assistive devices, and functional training.
- Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and rehabilitation nurses.
- Provide patient and family education on injury prevention, functional adaptation, and long‑term wellness strategies.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Participate in case conferences, care‑planning meetings, and interdisciplinary rounds.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, quality standards, and evidence‑based rehabilitation protocols.
- Contribute to departmental development, service improvement initiatives, and staff training.
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated on advancements in rehabilitation medicine.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R).
- Minimum 5 years of post‑certification experience, preferably in a hospital or specialized rehabilitation center.
- Strong knowledge of current rehabilitation technologies, treatment techniques, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient‑counselling skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
