LOCALITY MANAGER
- This is a permanent, full-time position.
- The starting probationary salary will be paid on the Autism Together Scale point DC6, currently £26,905.
- Hours are 37.5 per week. To be worked on a rota basis which will be arranged locally, which includes evenings and weekends, on call. Attendance at meetings, courses etc. out of normal hours and at locations outside the Wirral may be required.
- Leave is 187.5 hours per year plus 60 hours statutory bank holidays. One additional days holiday is awarded following completion of 5 years’ service and two additional days on completion of 10 years’ service (pro rata)

Job Profile:
- Within the aims and objectives of the organisation to lead a team of staff to establish and maintain a high standard of care practice within the Supported Living projects.
- This involves ensuring a happy, caring and secure environment for the people we support, together with a well-structured programme of leisure activities, and social skills training for each individual, in accordance with the values of Autism Together.
- To actively promote an autism-specific culture by ensuring that the work practices, environment, communication aids and structures are in place to support the individual needs of the people we support.
Responsible to: Firstly, the Registered Manager, and the Head of Supported Living Services. The post holder is ultimately responsible to the Quality and Support Director and the Chief Executive.
Responsible for: Supported Living Workers, Relief Support Workers, people we support and their environment.
Relationships: To establish and maintain good relationships with all employees and people we support within the organisation.
Location: The post is community-based. A desk will be available at the Head Office.
QUALITY MONITORING
- Regularly monitors and assists Deputy Locality Managers and support staff to develop support plans and risk assessments, and evaluate them.
- Supports tenants to meet their outcomes.
- Attends reviews as directed by the Registered Manager and produce reports. Produce written reports as required or directed.
- Conducts support workers’ supervisions in homes without a Deputy Locality Manager (DLM) and assists the DLM in homes with large staff teams. Conducts the DLM’s supervision and appraisal.
- Conducts appraisals for staff teams as above.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding and compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures.
- Conducts tenant meetings in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Responds to complaints from tenants and staff and if unable to resolve, brings to the attention of the Registered Manager.
- Supports the Registered Manager and development team with assessment upon request.
- Ensures that all financial procedures are being adhered to and reports any discrepancies to the Registered Managers.
- Ensures that all medication is dispensed correctly and medication recording systems are accurate.
- Engages and communicates professionally with all stakeholders, ensuring expectations and needs are met.
- Monitors quality through the audit process.
- Develops questionnaires for tenants and presents an analysis of the same, with the approval of the Registered Manager.
Teamwork
- Acts as a role model to staff and offers support and guidance to team members.
- Ensures that the vision statement is cascaded down to the staff team.
- Promotes the use of autism strategies and practice and ensures that the autism methodology is implemented throughout the services.
- Attends regular team meetings and deputises in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Encourages effective communication across the teams.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring that all team members are trained in autism strategies and other mandatory training. Ensures that all refresher courses are renewed.
- Drives the continuous professional development of staff.
Service development and continuous improvement
- Attends development and planning meetings as requested by the Registered Manager.
- Supports the Registered Manager and tenants with recruitment of staff for individual services.
- Co-ordinates staff team members and tenants to meet prior to a service opening.
- Plans and develops staff rotas in collaboration with the Registered Manager.
- Ensures that hours delivered meet agreed contracts.
- Supports the Registered Manager in attending meetings with interlinked agencies as directed.
- Helps to develop and grow new services.
- Manages the agreed number of hours as laid down by the organisation.
Leadership
- Acts as a positive role model for staff teams.
- Deals with poor performance quickly and effectively.
- Manages sickness in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
- Leads, directs and communicates effectively across the team.
- Participation in the on-call rota.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills.
- Demonstrates effective organisational skills.

- Keeps up to date with changing practice and legislation regarding autism and care.
- Attends regular conferences and ensures that training is kept up to date.

To undertake any other reasonable duties pertaining to this post which may, from time to time, be specified by the Chief Executive.
