Blue Planet Energy is looking for a Product Engineer to join the talented Engineering Department.

This person works closely with V.P. of Engineering and Product Manager in the product development, testing and R&D functions.
Responsibilities:
- Brainstorms design concepts and executes design concepts in all phases of a development cycle
- Generates innovative designs with multi-functional teams, including detailed written specifications, drawings and tolerance analyses
- Defines and Executes design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing, including structural evaluation
- Develops designs and processes with external vendors, acting as product development technical liaison among vendors
- Manages and tracks multiple priorities within schedule requirements and drives multiple vendors towards common project goals
- Conducts design reviews and drives file release process
- Drives failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions
- Drives design towards Blue Planet Energy's cosmetic requirements
- Communicates status effectively throughout the management structure
- PLC programming•Define test protocols and manage test process
- Analyze test data and create reports
- Shop maintenance
- Knowledge management (organize and maintain data storage)
- Documentation
Requirements:
- Engineering degree, BSEE / MSEE / BSME / MSME (preferred) and at least 2 years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent
- Design and 3D CAD experience required, SolidWorks (or comparable)
- Scientific method, experimental process, root cause analysis, statistical analysis
- DC electrical theory
- IT and networking skills
- Assembly, soldering, breadboarding, circuit evaluation
- Applied knowledge in PCB design•Working knowledge of Modbus, Canbus, SunSpec•Data-driven and detail focused.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors•Live and represent our culture of Aloha
Desired:
- Renewable energy knowledge
- Matlab experience
- Familiarity with Lithium-based battery technologies is preferred
- Experience working with overseas vendors a plus
- High volume manufacturing and automation experience is useful
- Process development experience a plus•Japanese and/or Spanish fluency also a plus
