Reuse Shop Supervisor
Salary: £30,207 per annum
Location: Day's Road, St. Philips
Hours & working pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Saturday – Wednesday 08:30-16:30
Purpose of the role:
We now have an exciting opportunity to join the reuse team and supervise one of our shops. Our reuse team operate three reuse shops at our HRRCs, diverting items from waste through donations from the public, after a checking process of the items we put them back into use.
Reuse aims to create a welcoming space that gives people easy, affordable ways to address the climate, ecological and cost of living crises. The post holder will be part of this innovative work, which allows BWC to promote reuse to a new, wider audience, and help support the shift to a circular economy.
As the Reuse Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for running all aspects of one of our exciting stores. You will be responsible for maximising diversion and sales, managing volunteers, providing excellent customer service and creating an inspiring, engaging and informative shopping experience. In addition, you will be engaged with promoting the waste hierarchy, reuse in general and the wider work of BWC, as well as social value activities.
You will report to the Reuse Growth Manager and work as part of the wider Reuse Team, staying connected through regular communication and shared best practice with colleagues at other reuse locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily donations, shop activities, liaising with site teams as needed. Ensure the shop opens on time and remains well organised.
- Create engaging and creative merchandising displays
- Maintain stock control, ensure equipment is secure and record any losses
- Manage donated item processing, including checking, testing (where applicable), pricing and presenting items for sale
- Implement and monitor stock rotation, ensuring timely updates and replenishment
- Identify high value donations and manage them in line with agreed processes
- Oversee back‑room operations, including storage, transfers of stock between sites, and appropriate disposal where required
- Operate the pricing strategy and process payments
- Manage gifting to Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers and plan/coordinate rotas.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
- Strong customer service skills

- Strong organisational and time‑management skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience with visual merchandising or creating shop displays
Knowledge
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Awareness of Health & Safety requirements and ability to promote safe working
- Interest in reuse, resource management or the circular economy
Experience
- Experience managing a team
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
- Experience working in a retail environment (Desirable)
- Experience managing volunteers
- Confidence using POS or stock management systems
Other
- Willingness to undergo a basic DBS check (fully funded by us)
- Full UK driving licence (Desirable)
