Junior Maintenance/ Handyman at Broomgrove Nursing Home

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Broomgrove Trust Nursing Home for the position of Junior Maintenance/Handyman on days, who possesses a genuine commitment to assist in the general maintenance of all the premises and grounds to a standard agreed with the Registered Manager. You will be under the direction of the Senior Maintenance person and must cover their holiday period. It is a unique chance to work in a friendly and professional environment within our charitable organization. We were established over 60 years ago and are 40 bed-unit.

Responsibilities

• To assist in the general maintenance of all the premises and grounds to a standard agreed with the Registered Manager, for the benefits of residents, staff, relatives and visitors.
• Check maintenance/repair book and plan/instigate repairs or replacements. Report defects and maintenance issues to the Administrator and Nursing Home Manager.
• To provide a high-quality gardening and grounds service to the Broomgrove Trust Nursing Home. 
• Maintain confidentiality of information according to our Nursing Home's policy.
• To assist in the completion of duties to ensure all legal requirements and guidelines are fulfilled.  This includes regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with domestic and care/nursing staff.
• Delivery and collection of varying items of equipment, including supplies and furniture as requested.
• Movement of equipment, furniture and stores as directed.
• Perform duties detailed in the basic maintenance plan. The maintenance plan is developed by the Nursing Home Manager and you will work closely/liaise with the Manager and Administrator regarding completion of repairs and maintenance contracts.
• Act as the main point of contact for external contractors carrying our service repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with general painting and decorating as per the needs of the home.
• Test the fire alarm system on a weekly basis and report any faults to the Nursing Home Manager
• Must complete the relevant training to become a Fire Marshal.

Hours

Part time - 16 hours /2 shifts per week, or 24 hours /3 shifts per week (including weekends after a few months). 

Shift: either 6:00-14:30 or 8:00 - 16:30

Working hours and shifts will be agreed after interview! 

Must be flexible and available to work weekends after a few months!

About Your benefits:

• Salary - The rate of pay is £12.45 per hour (Mon-Fri) with a 20% enhancement at weekends (£14.94 Sat-Sun). Bank holiday rate of pay is £18.67 and Christmas day & New Year's day pay rate is £24.90
