Bishop at Buncombe Street Methodist Church

Buncombe Street Methodist Church is seeking a dynamic and visionary Bishop to lead our growing congregation in Greenville, South Carolina. Responsibilities:

- Serve as the spiritual and administrative leader of the church, providing guidance and support to clergy and staff members

- Oversee all aspects of the church's operations, including worship services, community outreach programs, and budgeting

- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the congregation, regardless of age, race, gender, or sexual orientation

- Collaborate with church leadership to develop and implement long-term strategic plans

- Engage with the wider community and build relationships with other churches, organizations, and local leaders

- Serve as the primary liaison between the church and the regional or national Methodist organizations

- Provide pastoral care and counseling to individuals and families in need

- Preach and lead worship services on a regular basis

- Mentor and support clergy and staff members in their roles within the church

- Uphold the traditions and beliefs of the Methodist Church while also being open to new ideas and ways of worship

Qualifications:

- Ordained as a Bishop or eligible for ordination in the United Methodist Church

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in church leadership, preferably in a large and diverse congregation

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to people of all backgrounds

- A deep understanding and appreciation of the Methodist faith and its traditions

- Proven track record of successful community engagement and outreach

- Ability to inspire and lead a team towards a shared vision

- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills

- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with other church leaders and organizations

- Compassionate and empathetic, with strong pastoral care skills

- Willingness to embrace and uphold Buncombe Street Methodist Church's values and mission
