Bioprocess Engineer. This exciting role involves providing technical expertise on a range of cross-functional projects, including organizing, running, and continuously improving the manufacturing operations and process. The successful candidate will be proactive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with minimum oversight.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Previous Bioprocess Engineering experience or Biochemical Engineering. Responsible for the design and development of equipment and processes for the manufacture of products such as agriculture, food, Agri-feed, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, chemicals and polymers, and paper from biological materials and treatment of wastewater. Bioprocess engineering is a conglomeration of mathematics, biology, and industrial design and consists of various spectrums like designing bioreactors, study, or fermenters (mode of operations, etc.). It also includes studying various biotechnological processes used in the industries for large-scale production of biological products for optimization of yield and the quality of end-product. Bioprocess engineering may also include the work of mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineers to apply principles of their disciplines to process based on using living cells or subcomponent of such cells.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biosystems Engineering or related engineering degree.
- 5+ years of career experience in bioprocess engineering and management.
- English language proficiency required. Including reading, writing, speaking, and complete comprehension.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Be a Champion for safety culture and environmental responsibility in all activities and interactions.
- Partner with the quality department to ensure continuous improvement and procedural conformance.
- Provide technical leadership and support operations team.
- Coordinate and consult with maintenance on plant reliability opportunities.
- Support policies and recommend improvements for 5S and housekeeping practices.
- Successfully work independently as well as participate and lead a team.
- Perform special projects as requested and related tasks as needed.
- Serve as a resource/support as assigned to capital projects.
- Ability to design, test, troubleshoot, and oversee implementation of new processes.
- Thorough understanding of industrial microbial culture techniques, aseptic fill/finish, and working knowledge of GMP systems.
- Ability to review, oversee, coordinate engineering tasks and technical work done by others.
- Ability to personally do engineering tasks (calculations, plans, presentation of information, CAD, etc.).
- Experience with Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environment, GMP’s and HACCP Programs.
- Experience in evaluating 3rd party proposals and bids, conduct due diligence studies.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Positive attitude with the ability to receive coaching and management instruction.
- Strong personal commitment to learning and be cross-trained.
- Must possess solid problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and team-based skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Ability to lift 50lbs consistently.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on scaffolding or man lifts.
