Job Purpose
The Assistant Video Editor's primary focus is to ensure that the production team and editors have the assets and media required for offline and online edits, as well as visual effects work. They will also be involved in the edit process, selecting clips and creating full edits from start to finish including adding and mixing sound, adding graphics and exporting for final delivery.
They will work under the guidance of the senior editor and complete edit and graphics work to a high standard while keeping a clean workflow and file management.
This role suits a recent graduate who is eager to put their skills to the test and learn about live action, animation and VFX workflows as part of a lean, fast moving team of motivated and creative individuals. You will have a strong sense of aesthetic and be consistently looking to improve your work and learning from others.
You will get to be involved with the creation of brand new virtual production content and video formats at the cutting edge of video production. We welcome creativity and would love to work with someone who is passionate and motivated to keep learning.
A Day In The Life
- Assisting and supplying the senior editor with rushes and project files
- Creating edit projects, organising bins and labelling metadata from shoots.
- Completing edit projects, adding graphics, sound and colour correction
- Using graphics templates to add motion graphics and text to the timeline Take creative direction from the senior team and create high quality edited video footage.
- Keep a detailed and organised workspace, working within an established pipeline.
- Contribute creatively to project ideas and brainstorming sessions, raising any issues as early as possible in a workflow.
You’re good at:
- Experience working with video and graphics.
- Experience with Davinci Resolve or similar editing software
- Experience with After Effects or similar graphics packages
- Ability to problem solve, proactively and diplomatically.
- Ability to use good judgement when working creatively, seeking advice where appropriate.
- Highly organised and conscious of the wider video pipeline
Extra nice to have:
- Experience creating motion graphics
- Working with motion graphics templates and plugins (red giant, Boris, Fusion etc)
- Experience with sound design and colour correction
- Interest in virtual production, live compositing and VFX
- Experience using Unreal Engine
- Recent graduate
