We're looking for a senior software engineer (Ruby/React) based in the UK (or Europe, must be within 2 hours of GMT/BST) to join the team at Contact.
We’re building a platform that helps creative talent get more work, and makes it significantly easier for folks who need creative talent to find great people to work with.
Our current product caters exclusively to models and photographers, but over the summer we've built the technology to quickly roll out the product for other creative industries (think stylists, directors, make-up artists, and more), so many more creative industries will likely be onboarded over the next 12 months.
Since we launched in February 2020, over 3000 jobs have been booked through the platform, from small startups to large global brands including Nike, Vogue, Ellesse, Balenciaga, and more. In the next few years, we want Contact to become the one-stop shop for booking creative talent, and there’s huge scope to influence and design the approach for how we do that.
Contact's engineering "footprint" spans across three main codebases:
In this role, you'll be primarily working on our web product, working with product managers, designers and other engineers to define and build new features and epics.
As an ideal candidate, you’ll be a passionate, proactive and product-focused problem solver who is experienced and confident in building well-structured solutions as part of an agile team.
In your first week, you'll ship code to production — pairing with another engineer on a relatively small feature to get you familiar with how we work and the product.
In your first six months, we'll expect you to develop substantial knowledge of our codebases, and be able to work independently on basic functionality, helping less experienced engineers build out complex features.
After a year, we'll expect you to know our product and codebases inside out, and be comfortable guiding a team of engineers working on large, cross-cutting features. At this point, we'd hope to be able to promote you to the next step on our engineering progression framework, which is Staff Software Engineer.
Contact is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team of people from a variety of different backgrounds. We strongly encourage anyone to apply, even if your skill set doesn't quite match the requirements above. We're particularly interested in hearing from people from typically underrepresented groups in the tech industry.
This role is banded between £65,000 and £80,000, depending on experience.
