JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist in Developing, implementing and monitoring statistical analytical tools and systems, with a focus on the collections and acquisitions processes. This data-centric role aims to analyze and solve problems by employing expertise from various disciplines, such as statistics, mathematics, and advanced analytics in support of well-defined business goals. Participate in global Risk Management projects to ensure that best practices are utilized as it pertains to scoring and pricing quantification. Position may require ICS compliance activities as applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with in-depth data quantitative analysis (e.g., machine learning, advanced analytics, text mining, pattern recognition) from multiple data sources using a variety of tools; analyze various data systems and data sets to discover new insights; apply findings to develop new acquisition, auto-decisioning, scorecards, fraud prevention, risk-based collection, recovery and other credit risk related strategies (20%)
- Data extraction, cleaning and validation for ad hoc analyses, reporting and model development (30%)
- Test, implement and document internally developed machine learning models, while adhering to DFS credit risk policy, procedures, and processes (20%)
- Assisting in Internally developing, testing, implementing and documenting new acquisition scoring models, generate quarterly monitoring reports (20%)
- Work with external vendors to test, implement and document new acquisition scoring models and vendor products, generate quarterly monitoring reports (10%)
Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 3 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:
- Business (General) - 3-5 years of experience
- Credit - 1-2 years of experience
- Finance - 1-2 years of experience
- Risk Management - 2-3 years of experience
Education:
- Bachelor's is required, Master's Degree is preferred. Recommended majors include:
- Business Administration
- Finance
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Statistics
Additional Knowledge:
- 2-3 years experience in Finance, Controlling or relevant analytical positions
Skills:
- Analytical Skills- Ability to Collect data and establish facts and identify trends and variances
- Ability to Formulate and test hypotheses for the purpose of forecasting outcomes
- Ability to Integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity
- Ability to Review and interpret and evaluate statistical information
- PC Skills- Microsoft Office
- Project Management Skills- Team Member
Additional Skills:
- Technical finance or analytical/statistical background and awareness of basic risk management and collections concepts
- Experience in database design with knowledge of SAS, Python, R, or other statistical software, and MS Office
- Experience with Credit Bureau Reporting a plus
