JOB DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Dietitian plans, directs, and provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to inpatients and outpatients in designated areas/programs. The dietitian is responsible for nutrition screenings, assessments, the prescription of nutrition orders, ongoing monitoring of patients’ care, and documentation of care plan in accordance with department and hospital policies. The dietitian provides education to patients, students, community members, and health care staff, and acts as a clinical preceptor to dietetic students in accordance with ASCEND guidelines and affiliation agreements. The dietitian participates in department and hospital-wide activities pertaining to quality improvement, professional development and community education. Serves as primary coordinator of clinical care for pediatric patients diagnosed with metabolic disorders in the clinical genetics clinic.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics; registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Vermont State Certification as a dietitian required within 90 days of hire. UVM MC requires proof of RD-eligibility or completion of national registration and Vermont certification at the start of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have experience in providing MNT to acute inpatients whose needs include oral, enteral (via tube) and parenteral nutrition, and in recommending and treating inpatients and outpatients needing diverse oral therapeutic diets for patients and their families with diverse cultural backgrounds. Job is located in Burlington, VT with some flexibility for on-site care and incorporation of telehealth
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years of pediatric experience, outpatient setting
Knowledge of Epic and provision of care via telehealth
This is a part time, 32 hours per week, benefit eligible position.
