Summary/Objective:
This individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of Commercial Credit Analysts, who analyze commercial real estate, commercial credit, small business opportunities (C&I) , recommending appropriate lending structures, delivering quality credit memos with support, approve transactions within lending limits, and recommend loans to the Business Loan Committee.
This role will recommend and develop departmental procedures for policy adherence and effectively communicate and collaborate with impacted stakeholders. Day to day work will include oversight of team conducting cash flow analysis, spreading business financials and tax returns, spreading guarantor financials and tax returns, and other underwriting functions.
The Commercial Credit Manager is expected to function as a forward thinking, hands on manager, who takes the initiative to make improvements to business services procedures and processes to enhance the work environment and member experience. The incumbent will help ensure adherence to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
Essential Functions include:
- Oversees a team of Credit Analysts to direct and coordinate the internal credit work flow to promote efficiency and uniformity.
- Provide initial and ongoing training, coaching, and mentorship to existing and new underwriters.
- Directs team of underwriters to complete credit analyses including gathering, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information on existing and prospective customers, including individual persons and public/private corporations and real estate assets
- Manages portfolio risk by ensuring timeliness and accuracy of all credit actions, by providing guidance on credit structure and risk rating decisions.
- Coordinates work with Credit, Loan Administration and other groups, promoting consistent quality and conciseness of credit documents and streamlining work flow among underwriting, credit approval and loan administration.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Small Business leaders on leading/supporting business initiatives, prioritization of work and setting/adhering to work standards for productivity levels, timeliness of work and work quality.
- Proactively develops and presents credit policy recommendations to mitigate risk with a prudent balance of risk vs reward.
- Expected to be able to individually produce the work of Commercial and Small Business analysts by analyzing commercial credit and small business opportunities (including but not limited to, cash flow, debt service coverage, leverage, liquidity, collateral loan to values, risk analysis, etc.), and to generate quality credit memos for credit committee with accurate, thorough and thoughtful supporting documentation.
- Assists members and internal departments with research and resolution of problems relating to business services commercial lending products.
- Ensures the integrity of the loan origination and annual review process by verifying accurate business loan data.
- Ensures loan recommendations conform to the credit union's lending policies and are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Works with the internal Business Intelligence Team in creating and communicating critical performance data related to all commercial products and services.
- Works with IT and other supporting departments on necessary technology and project implementations and enhancements.
- Oversight of direct reports with focus upon serving members, serving and collaborating with partners, employee engagement, career pathing and career development.
- Adheres to all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations governing the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or a related field seven to ten years of commercial lending or underwriting experience.
- Must have minimum two years of experience managing a team of direct reports.
- Ability to analyze corporate financial statements of public and private real estate companies including extensive balance sheet, income statement and cash flow analysis.
- Demonstrate expertise and understanding in project specific analysis thorough knowledge of economics, accounting, and finance
- Small business lending experience required.
- Commercial Real Estate lending required.
- Construction lending experience required.
- Commercial and Industrial (C&I) lending experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field is a plus
- Experience with common financial institution technology a plus (Symitar, Baker Hill, Salesforce, Imaging Software, Power Pivot, etc.)
Work Environment:

Physical Requirements:

Compensation:
The midpoint of the budgeted range is $128,747 + annual bonus. The starting salary for the individual in this position will be adjusted for his, her, or their experience.
