Position Summary/Description:
- The Radiologic Technologist performs routine radiographic examinations to patients of all ages consistently demonstrating knowledge and practice of radiation safety.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the Imaging Department.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures and skills check lists.
- The CT Radiologic Technologist maintains a safe environment and conducts patient education as necessary.
- Under the guidance of a site radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
- Technologist follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Technologist works in collaboration with all other care disciplines to provide safe, efficient, and coordinated care for patients.
- Utilizes established policies and procedures of CVH and maintains clinical competencies through continuing education.
- He/she must be able to recognize and assess changes in mental and/or physical conditions resulting in life threatening conditions.
Qualifications:
- State Licensure in Utah or able to obtain a Utah License
- Graduate of approved two-year Radiologic Technology program, or equivalent certification
- Registered and in good standing with American Registry of Radiographic Technologists (ARRT) designated ARRT (R), or equivalent certification
- CT Registered or be able to Obtain within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- BCLS certified or able to obtain within 60 days
- At least one year of previous experience in a Radiologic Technologist strongly preferred.
- Image quality competency completion required within 90 days
- Successful completion of an orientation program.
- Ability to accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts when acuity and/or census indicate need. Will be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status will be determined by Department Director or Administrator on call.
