JOB DESCRIPTION
The Data Engineer II is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining plans that ensure the quality and accessibility of data needed to support Marketing. The data engineer will work with Marketing, Sales, IT, and third-party vendors to ensure the integrity of the data being used for various marketing functions. They will also be responsible for automating legacy processes and developing ETLs for new data and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the marketing data steward representing marketing in Enterprise Data Governance efforts focused on improving the quality and accessibility of data
- Work with IT to continue building our Marketing Data Mart
- Work with business partners to develop ETL pipelines for new technologies
- Automate legacy packages and work with other business units to automate new data flows
- Design schemas for cloud and on-premises data repositories
- Identify and integrate data sources, design data repositories, and implement processes to support campaigns/reporting
- Implement data enrichment plans, including merging first-party and third-party data sources
- Interact with other teams to solve and resolve problems related to data
Knowledge/Experience/Education/Training:
- 5+ years of experience actively using Microsoft SQL Server and other database platforms
- Experience in data engineering, business intelligence, and data science
- Experience with R or Python (Python preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
- Experience building and maintaining API connections
- Significant experience using SQL and SSIS
- Demonstrated business experience creating and running reports in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Looker
- Advanced skills in SQL for data manipulation and transformation
- Experience data modeling, relational database design, and data warehouse design, along with practical experience extracting, transforming, and outputting data from a variety of sources
- Experience with marketing customer database management, data hosting, and processing.
- Knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices
- Attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively manage within a deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding different file formats (text, CSV, etc.) and accessing data in relational database platforms is required.
- Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with functional team members
- Experience using Excel
