Job Details
- The Director of the Emergency Department and ICU is responsible for the overall operation and direction of patient care in the ED & ICU. This position manages staff members;
- Consults with staff, physicians, and Chief Nursing Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.
- Responsible for staff education and development.
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
- Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Must-Haves:
- Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. ADN required, BSN preferred.
- Current Kansas Registered Nurse license.
- BLS/ACLS/PALS Certification

- Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
