We are in search of a talented, motivated, self-starting Director of Product Management Tools & Meters who enjoys a fast paced yet incredibly fun and rewarding environment. He or she will create roadmaps for innovative products that will drive sales and brand awareness in the wholesale, retail, and eCommerce channels. They will also build and lead a strong team of product managers and specialists. This position will also be responsible for hand tools a test equipment, commercialization of those products and tracking their effectiveness.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops product strategy and plans to support growth and profitability targets for 3+ years. Uses data to make informed decisions.
- Set vision and lead product management and commercialization process
- Director of Product Management Tools & Meters will act as the leader between cross functional teams such as product managers, marketing, sales, operations, finance, compliance and quality.
- Drive team to monitor sales, margin, and inventory performance of tools and meters category and make recommendations for corrective actions based on results versus plan
- Launch new products to the wholesale and retail channel in conjunction with the Channel team
- Manage a team of product managers and specialists.
- Coordinate with product, sales and marketing for launches and campaigns.
- Drive Product Management to serve as the advocate for the voice of the customer, consumer, and end-user in product strategy and product development
- Leverage industry expertise and experience build team using world class product roadmaps, streamline product management processes and drive improvements throughout the organization through collaboration with marketing, project management, engineering, operations and other internal stakeholders
- Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development.
- Build partnership with business groups through strong team portfolio management as a result of voice of customer leading to business case to innovative product concepts and value propositions
- Establish KPI and measure team success for growth opportunities
- Leads organization through new product management process in assigned categories, cross-functionally managing the process from initial discovery through phase gates to post-production. Ensures profitability of various product lines.
- Interacts and influences regularly with executives and/or major customers on highly visible activities.
- Maintains knowledge of current market activities and trends, product features, share size, channels and changes in consumer demand
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Must have Product Management experience with in the tools and equipment space (construction hand tools or equipment)
- Ability to make sound financial judgements regarding investments, returns, and overall financial impacts
- 10 years of progressive in product management, business or engineering
- 5 years management experience
- Strong communications skills across the entire organization
- An excellent motivator who is charismatic, willing to take action and confident
- Would have experience taking a product to market and tracking the effectiveness
- Must have the ability to provide examples of how they launched products to wholesale and retail channels
- Must be able to lead teams
- Ability to encourage confidence in others
