JOB DESCRIPTION
- Directs the Women's Services (including OB/Nursery) department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Develops and implements Women's Services goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating and administrating disciplinary actions.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Is aware of and manages staffing and productivity to this end.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Professional growth includes assuring all staff have current education and competencies as well as providing unit specific education opportunities.
- Holds staff accountable by managing in the moment.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to established best-practices and standards; writing and amending current policies to reflect updated standards and reflect past practice.
- This includes measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and philosophies and standards of care set by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, and other governing agencies.
Must-Haves :
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Nice-To-Haves :
- Leadership experience, preferably in a L&D unit
- STABLE certification- preferred
