Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or CSC Manager, the Diesel Truck Mechanic II– Intermediate is responsible for performing the day-to-day preventative maintenance of tank wagons, bobtails, service vans, and other gas propelled vehicles as directed/scheduled. Ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of diesel mechanic experience and a willingness to learn.
Major Activities:
- Perform preventative maintenance with minimal or no supervision
- Perform routine truck repairs including brake work, hydraulics, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical, and transmission with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to perform some welding and cutting as directed.
- Utilize various diagnostic equipment and software to identify error codes and identify repairs required.
Education and Experience:
- Community college diploma or equivalent training
- Minimum of 1-2 years related diesel truck maintenance experience.
- Valid CDL w/HAZMAT endorsement and DOT qualifications is required - but can obtain after hire.
- State Vehicle Inspection License.
- Some ASE and OEM certifications.
Specific Skills:
- General knowledge and understanding of diesel truck repair and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and productively with some supervision and support.
- Ability to use a variety hand, power, or specialty tools.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong desire for advancement.
- Manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs unassisted while working in difficult positions.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a team concept.
- Intermediate computer skills to start utilizing diagnostic equipment and access to fleet maintenance software.
