Description
Essential Functions
- Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administermedication as ordered by a physician within their scope of practice. Documents patient care given.
- Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PI: Participates in on-going performance improvement for the unit and the organization
Continuing Education: Participates in continuing education for current clinical practice, hospital requirements and licensing requirements
Patient Care: Provides quality patient care, works other than usual shifts as needed, works other than usual areas / units as needed, if qualified for duties required. Assigned on-call when necessary.Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required and Validated by a current license in this field.
Required Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred
Licenses:
- State of KY current unrestricted LPN licenseSuccessful completion of Skills Competency Validation Checklist
