Position Summary/Description:
The Radiologic Technologist performs routine radiographic examinations to patients of all ages consistently demonstrating knowledge and practice of radiation safety.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the Imaging Department.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures and skills check lists.
The Nuclear Medicine Radiology Technician works under the direction of a director or other supervisor, assumes the responsibility and accountability for producing diagnostic procedures on anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist.
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (referred to as technologist) maintains a safe environment and conducts patient education as necessary.
Under the guidance of a site radiologist, administers nuclear radioisotopes according to site-specific protocols.
Technologist follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
Technologist works in collaboration with all other care disciplines to provide safe, efficient, and coordinated care for patients.
Utilizes established policies and procedures of WCCH and maintains clinical competencies through continuing education.
He/she must be able to recognize and assess changes in mental and/or physical conditions resulting in life threatening conditions.
