JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the critical care setting. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
MUST HAVES :
- A valid and current UT RN license or compact State License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required one month from hire date
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) six months from hire date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 60 days from hire date
NICE TO HAVES :
- ICU RN ExperienceBachelor’s degree in nursing or a relevant field
- At least 1 years experience as an ICU nurse or critical care unit
- Available to work 12-hour day and night shifts
- Demonstrate brilliant empathy and communication skills
- Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment
