The registered nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total care of patients as delegated.
Graduation from a school of nursing as a registered nurse required.
Verbal and written ability to give information and present ideas essential in administrative management.
Ability to understand advanced theory and practice in nursing.
Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department.
Ability to discern legal implications in nursing.
Ability to motivate personnel, problem-solve effectively and handle stress in a positive manner.
Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departments.
Function as a staff or charge nurse and performs functions of a registered nurse - uses the nursing process to access, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients.
Supervise and coordinate care in a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in an efficient manner and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Ability to problem-solve effectively and apply critical-thinking skills to provide quality patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Familiar with ICU monitoring equipment and application of that knowledge to the patient’s condition.
Provide excellent customer service including patient education.
Ability to work with all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
Ability to work with Paragon applications (computer system).
Documentation is reflective of care provided to ensure accurate charges are placed.
Possess the knowledge to use PYXIS medication delivery system while coordinating within the healthcare team in the safe delivery of medications.
Ability to use GRASP acuity system.
Productivity - ensures completion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at own initiative. Works as scheduled, without unplanned absences.
Education – Uses the nursing process to meet patient/family learning needs. Completes/attends all required in-services and unit staff meetings.
Professionalism – Applies knowledge to practice through participation in performance improvement activities and application of nursing research.
Consistently communicates to co-workers, medical staff, ancillary departments and customers to promote a collaborative and cooperative environment.

Work requires physical ability such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects/patients (patients 300+ pounds), stooping and climbing stairs.
