Collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process; provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records.
Principal Accountabilities
- Coordinates and facilitates sepsis educational activities as required for physicians, staff, patients and the community.
- Works with hospital sepsis task force and/or other hospital department directors and managers to identify sepsis program needs through compilation of sepsis data.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Medical Center policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
- Facilitates the development, implementation and ongoing adherence of sepsis program protocols and therapies
- Ensures the protocols and therapies become the standard of care followed within the facility
- Collaborates with medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with a diagnosis of sepsis. Rounds with physicians for patients with diagnosis of sepsis, reviews clinical data. Provides education and clinical expertise to care team, patients, and families. Collaborates with physicians and staff in an effort to decrease mortality and length of stay.
- Works in collaboration with nursing team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients and families in regard to sepsis. Provides education and clinical expertise to care team, patients, and families.
- Collects and analyze sepsis program data to assist with documentation, clinical care, and improved outcomes.
- Collaborates with quality team to improve patient outcomes and impact overall patient experience
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - External
- Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum Experience: Three (3) years clinical nursing experience in Neuroscience, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, or acute Med/Surg.
- Licenses/Certification: Current NM or compact RN license required. CPR certification.
Must Haves :
- Current license as RN in New Mexico or compact license
- Three years clinical nursing experience in Neuroscience, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine or acute Med/Surg
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
