JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Senior Accountant will provide functional leadership in driving financial results, performance analysis and timely closing and reporting per the corporate closing schedule for our data center assembly business based in Youngsville, NC and our mobile power business based in Largo, FL with manufacturing operations in Honduras. The Senior Accountant will ensure that all financial and accounting policies are consistently and accurately implemented and reported with strict adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position will have a strong emphasis on cost accounting.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis – provide timely and insightful variance analysis of financial results. Responsible for close out process and monthly forecasting.
- Annual Budget – partner with all levels of operations personnel and various levels of corporate personnel to develop annual budget. Use operational metrics to establish and achieve year-over-year improvements in manufacturing/ operational cost. Identify issues or potential issues that can be proactively resolved.
- Capital Planning & Expenditure Tracking – oversee long and short-range capital investment analysis. Work with leadership to build capital investment plans to ensure they have been completed in accordance with Company policy, meet financial return models and assumptions. Provide management with capital requirement forecasts/ projections as requested.
- Product Costing – review and analyze margin reports, conduct research and perform profitability analysis. Update and monitor standard costs as required.
- Financial Shared Services – building, developing and improving operations, process and procedures of Sumner financial shared services team to support strategic direction.
- Controls & Procedures – responsible for balance sheet account reconciliations. Responsible for inventory transactions and accuracy in support of inventory control and corporate auditing. Participate in and ensure proper controls for cycle counts and responsible for annual physical inventory and valuation.
- Business Influence – this role is considered an integral part of the newly acquired business leadership team. The Senior Accountant will be expected to regularly contribute recommendations on how the business may become more efficient and effective and then follow these recommendations through to a logical conclusion.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA designation or CPA track preferred. MBA or CMA a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance in progressively responsible positions with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
- Experience with consolidation accounting.
- Experience with SAP a must. Advanced, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel required.
- Strong managerial presence that reflects a hands on, participating operating style. Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Possess a high level of confidence combined with the ability to build strong internal relationships while maintaining a collaborative style.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Position will require 25% travel.
