Organize, direct and lead distribution center and facility functions to a “Best in Class” status. Responsible for the safety of employees and efficient running of the distribution center achieving the highest in customer satisfaction across multiple business channels.
Job Duties
- Ensure all facets of worker safety and health are first priority in accordance with company and OSHA policies and regulations.
- Plan resources and manage all distribution center functions to achieve and maintain “best in class” distribution performance across all channels.
- Provide leadership, coaching and training to warehouse employees at all levels placing an emphasis on talent evaluation and leader development.
- Provide leadership and oversight for material flow functions within distribution center to include, receiving, slotting, shipping and inventory control ensuring efficient delivery of stated goals.
- Manage material stocking levels, inventory variance reports and provide timely communication for noted issues.
- Create and interpret facility metric reporting and identify areas for improvement. Communicate results in weekly Operations Meeting.
- Provide input in planning for annual distribution center budget and capitol expense requirements.
- Manage the warehouse activities within planned budget ensuring, safety of personnel and efficient utilization of equipment and resources.
- Proactively provide data driven recommendations for additional warehouse resource requirements.
- Effectively align work values with company stated goals and core values.
- Provide guidance on work assignments for special projects to warehouse leaders ensuring timely execution of requirement.
- Ensure production related activities and requirements are completed in a safe manner and delivered to warehouse on time.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years prior warehouse / distribution center experience, with at least 5 years direct experience managing complex multi-channel distribution centers of a comparable size. (100,000 SF+)
- Distribution Center Manager must have have a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business Leadership, Supply Chain, or related field. experience.
- Must be highly organized and able to operate successfully in a fast paced, high growth business environment.
- LEAN Management principles implementation and leadership experience a plus (Green Belt Certification)
- Must have completed or be willing to complete in first 90 days of hire appropriate level OSHA Training and Certifications. (ex: OSHA-30 Hour, BBP, CPR)
- In depth knowledge and understanding of multi-channel distribution operations. (Retail, Wholesale, e-Commerce and Direct Marketing (B2B, B2C).
- Proven track record in all aspects of budgetary planning and management.
- Must be Safety and Customer Satisfaction oriented as a “core value”.
- Excellent judgment, decision making, critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Resourceful, highly organized, dependable, flexible and efficient are traits required to be successful in this role.
- Must be adept in running system reports and converting raw data into actionable information.
- Warehouse Systems related software understanding a must - (SAP) a plus.
- Functional understanding of production planning and execution.
Physical/Mental Demands & Working Conditions
- In this role the manager can expect frequent exposure to elements and environmental factors commonly found in an active distribution center. These elements would include heat, cold, noise and dust.
