ECA is hiring a Technical Director to lead our economic regulation team in the energy sector. The role includes developing new business, managing projects, and providing thought leadership. The successful candidate will have staff development responsibilities for a core group of two to three people and can expect to be managing larger multi-disciplinary teams in delivering projects.
The position will be based in either our London office or Athens office, with the expectation of extensive international travel. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications and skills
The ideal profile includes the following:
- Advanced university degree (Masters) in a relevant discipline (eg economics, engineering, finance, or energy-related field).
- At least ten years’ experience in regulatory economics in the electricity and natural gas sectors (primarily) and the water and sewerage sector (optionally), gained through prior consulting, industry/utility, government and/or regulator experience. This should include one or more of cost assessment and benchmarking, regulatory finance, access charging, and policy and regulatory assessment.
- Prior experience in the electricity and natural gas sectors in one or more of the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA. Ideally, this will be accompanied by prior experience in one or more of ECA’s target markets in South-East Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
- Experience in working with multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams, to tight deadlines. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, project beneficiaries, and fellow staff and team members.
- Excellent command of written and oral English, and an ability to communicate complex economic issues clearly and concisely.
