Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join EMQN CIC as a full-time Scientific Programme Administrator. We are seeking an appropriately qualified, self-motivated, and enthusiastic healthcare scientist or technologist to support our scientific team. Flexibility, good communication, good practical laboratory skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines are essential attributes. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small friendly team maintaining existing international services and supporting the development and delivery of EQA. 

 

As a Scientific Programme Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the preparation and manufacture of EQA samples in accordance with EMQN CIC protocols and policies including booking in, aliquoting, labelling of samples, and maintaining laboratory records.
  • Assisting with stock control of laboratory consumables and reagents, and participation in laboratory housekeeping activities.
  • Assisting with preparing the EMQN website for the assessment of EQA results.
  • Assisting in the preparation of scientific reports including generating basic statistics, preparing graphs and formatting.
  • Assisting with gathering of data for scientific publications.
  • Assisting with the logistics associated with the services provided by EMQN CIC.

This post will be varied and challenging. The successful individual is expected to use their own initiative and to promote good working relationships with colleagues. A small amount of travel may be required. In return, you’ll find that we’re committed to development and training for all staff and offer flexibility to allow some remote working. Qualification attainments

 

  • HNC/HND or Diploma in science (or equivalent)  in a scientific subject 

and/or

  • Training and experience at an Assistant Technologist level .
  • Willingness to undertake further training and self-directed learning
  • Healthcare Science Registration e.g., for healthcare science practitioners / Certificate of Competence (CoC) for Genetic Technologists (GT) or equivalent.
  • Honours degree in a biological sciences subject (Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genomic Sciences, or allied subject)

  • Basic laboratory skills e.g pipetting
