The Enable Film Office team offers a one-stop service for all your filming needs in Wandsworth on behalf of the Council.
We cover all professional filming and photography on Council land or public roads and issue licences and notifications for this. Our work is guided by the principles of the London Filming Partnership. We work closely with Wandsworth Council departments including Parking; Highways; Housing; Leisure; Planning and Facilities, as well as the Metropolitan Police Film Unit; Transport for London; local residents; residents associations and community groups, to ensure that filming operates safely, legally and smoothly.
As the film and television industry continues to evolve, we have evolved our film service accordingly, catering better to our clients’ needs by finding an array of diverse locations, streets, buildings and green spaces in Wandsworth to facilitate their requirements.
We are looking for a dynamic and engaging individual who has proven working knowledge and experience of working in or with TV/Film location management including Health and Safety issues specific to location filming and the ability to identify the filming potential of premises. Proven knowledge and experience of using the Internet, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook for office administration and of managing photo/video library archive material, would be beneficial but not essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of departments within an organisation is essential, as well as excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. The ability to work independently, with or without direct supervision, and as part of a small team is required.
This role is offered as a temporary six-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Answers phone calls
- Responds to filming enquiries via email
- Processes small-scale filming applications via Film App
- Updates excel spreadsheets with financial information
- Creates all invoices and purchase orders for filming services and liaises directly with the Finance Section as required
- Ensures that all relevant documentation is submitted to the Film Office prior to location filming commencing; submit all complex risk assessments and Covid-19 risk assessments to the Head of Filming for approval
- Updates the Filming Schedule once applications have been approved
- Organises and prints parking permits and key collection
- Assists on complex film shoots
- Assists, attends and minutes site meetings (or zoom meetings) at proposed filming locations when requests are made for medium scale on-street film shoots, with key personnel from the Council and the Location Manager
- Assists on technical recces (or zoom meetings) for medium-size shoots on council owned properties prior to location filming, in order to help and advise productions on the management of logistics, vehicle movement and parking
- Liaises with key personnel at Wandsworth Council to ensure that all requests for filming on highways, on-street parking and parking suspensions are processed.
- Liaises with the Events Team to ensure there is no conflict between filming activities and events.
- Carries out other duties as may be directed by the Head of Filming/Assistant Film Manager.
Person Specification
- Proven working knowledge and experience of working in or with TV/Film location management including Health and Safety issues specific to location filming and ability to identify the filming potential of premises.
- Proven knowledge and experience of using the Internet, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Access for office administration and of using digital cameras and managing photo / video library archive material.
- Experience of marketing and promoting services and ability to use mobile phones and tablets to document filming and locations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of departments within an organisation.
- Knowledge of the geography of the Wandsworth Borough.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and deliver targets within deadlines. Ability to work independently, with or without direct supervision, and as part of a small team.
- Ability to deal supportively with clients yet to be firm if required including the ability to enforce measures to meet health and safety legislation or prescribed terms and conditions.
- A general understanding of ‘safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people’ and a willingness to attend training as required.
- Understanding of the diverse community in Wandsworth and the implications for service delivery in general and for the post of Filming Officer.
- A full clean UK driving licence.
