The Preconstruction / Design Manager is responsible for the successful completion of the design of a project. This position requires the ability for an individual to bridge the gap between design and construction. Preconstruction / Design Managers will collaborate on projects with their colleagues, delegate tasks and check for quality and consistency.
Position Requirements
Essential job functions include:
• Management of design subcontractors
• Management of design schedule
• Management of constructability review process
• Management of a third-party / peer review process
• Management of Owner design review process
• Manage design team to design to budget
• Develop and maintain Customer / Owner relations
• Review of design submittals
• Develop and manage design support of the bid package process
• Participate in risk management from a design perspective
• Collaborate with team members
• Conduct presentations of project-related progress and concepts to Owner's groups and regulatory agencies
• Cost reporting
• Personnel evaluation and development
Preferred qualifications:
• Strong communication skills
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience on large, commercial, design-build construction projects
• A 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
• DBIA certification
• LEED AP credential
• A solid understanding of the design-build process as demonstrated by a combination of experience and education
