Our client is 39 years old and enjoys chatting, cooking, quizzes and word games, listening to music and watching TV, as well as being taken on outings such as out for lunch or garden centre visits.
She is a wheelchair user and requires personal care and support for all activities of daily living. As a result of an acquired brain injury, she can display challenging behaviour and be very bluntly spoken. She has a strong character and needs creative and upbeat stimulation. She is very bright with a great sense of humour and can take offence if she is treated like a child or as if she is unintelligent.
About You:
You will be an experienced Carer/Support Worker, ideally with experience supporting individuals with an acquired brain injury.
Our client enjoys support from people who are confident, outgoing, energetic and quick-witted with a great sense of humour who can establish a successful rapport with her and engage in “banter”.
You will be caring, calm and reliable and with a positive outlook.
You will need to be someone with energy, enthusiasm and stamina who is able to display initiative
Due to her brain injury, our client can be extremely blunt and you will need to be broad-minded, able to brush off remarks or abusive language without taking offence and be able to accept rude jokes and sometimes inappropriate language without taking it personally.
You will be clearly spoken and an excellent communicator with good social skills.
Respectful of working in a family home environment and able to work and build a rapport with our client’s mother who is an integral part of her care team.
