Our UK headquarters is based in Poole on the Dorset coast with its bustling quay, some of the best beaches in the UK and a stunning natural harbour. There is easy access to the Dorset countryside, the New Forest and the spectacular Jurassic Coast. Our main office is 1 mile from Poole railway station with good public transport links and close to both Bournemouth and Southampton international airports.
Position Overview
- The role of the Electronic Design Engineer is to design and develop electronic cards/systems for payment and ticketing solutions throughout the complete product lifecycle.
- Be proficient with Electronic CAD to fulfill electronic designs for cost-effective manufacturing.
- Provide expert electronic support and take ownership of concept design, detailed design, and design for manufacturing, and obsolescence management.

Responsibilities
Design/Development of technical solutions:
- Detailed design of mixed signal circuit boards,
- Design of high speed digital circuits, CPU & Memory up to 1Ghz
- Analogue circuit design, filters, SM PSU’s, audio etc.
- Integration of RF modules & antennas - Wi-Fi, BLE, 4G modems
- Creating PCB multilayer layouts, with regard to impedance matching and signal integrity requirements & EMC.
- Updating and improving existing hardware designs
- Production of technical documentation such as design & test specifications
- Writing simple software test routines to exercise new designs
- Analysing and resolving hardware problems reported by other departments
- Providing technical oversight and design authority
- Ensuring Designs meet relevant requirements with regard to legal norms, environmental, EMC and safety requirements for UKCA & CE Conformance
- Conduct Design Validation and Product Testing: Functional, Performance, EMC, Environmental etc.
Core Attributes:
- A degree in Electronic Engineering
- Electronic Design CAD packages such as Altium/Mentor etc.
- 5 years minimum industrial experience within a design team
- Excellent Electronic Design knowledge of Digital & Analog Electronics including Switched mode Power supplies
- Expert knowledge of electronic Test instrumentation such as Oscilloscopes spectrum analyzers etc.
- Appreciation of EMC, ensuring designs incorporate counter measures
- Appreciates the value of quality and process
- Driven to deliver ‘right first time’ on time, budget and quality
- Ability to write and modify simple test software / code
- An understanding of software operating systems and application software structure.
