All about the role of Transit Sales Manager:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Transit Sales Manager to join our team in the fare collection industry. This role offers a unique opportunity for a professional with 3-5 years of experience in sales and transit solutions, to drive new business and cultivate relationships with potential clients. The position can be remote, but requires up to 50% travel across the US to secure new business opportunities and develop strategic accounts.
What will you do?
- Business Development: Identify and target new business opportunities within the transit and fare collection sectors. Develop and implement strategic plans to expand our client base and achieve sales targets;
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in transit agencies and related organizations. Provide exceptional service and support to existing clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention;
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Create and execute sales strategies that align with company goals. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients, demonstrating the value and benefits of our fare collection solutions;
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research (collaborating with the marketing team) to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies. Utilize this information to identify new opportunities and refine sales approaches;
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including product development, marketing, and customer support, to ensure alignment and successful execution of client projects and initiatives;
- Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity. Provide regular updates to management on progress towards sales goals and key account developments.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent presentation, and negotiation skills building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders;
- Strong understanding of fare collection systems, transit operations, and related technologies. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices;
- Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other sales tools;
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and systems;
- Confident decision making abilities;
- Above average computer skills; and
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with all stakeholders.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Business, Marketing, or Communications;
- 3 -5+ years of proven sales experience in the transit, fare collection, or related industries;
- Demonstrated success in securing new business and managing key government accounts;
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, to meet with clients, visit offices, and attend industry events;
- Willingness to work outside of traditional business hours to accommodate business needs; and
- Possess and maintain an unrestricted driver's license in good standing.
