Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary photonics design team, and is responsible for the design, development, and support of all aspects of optoelectronic systems for government and commercial customers, throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. Qualified candidates will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of electrical engineering and physics. Detailed responsibilities include:

  • System start-up, testing, and debugging.
  • Electrical schematic design and circuit analysis.
  • PCB layout, assembly, bring up, and test.
  • Perform thorough product surveys.
  • Perform component and system analysis calculations.
  • Prepare and document engineering designs and measurement reports.
  • Write control algorithms, scripts, and drivers.
  • Perform photonic die level measurements and test automation.
  • Support the die processing team.
  • Define and track detailed test plans for the different modules and top levels.
     

The preferred candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications

  • Significant skill with multiple programming languages (ie. Python). LabView experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of FPGA design
  • Experience with firmware development for board bring-up
  • Experience working with sensitive optical equipment on an optical bench.
  • Knowledge of optical components and physics (lasers, waveguides, photodetectors).
  • Experience implementing machine learning models.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in the appropriate discipline (Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Physics)
  • Excellent technical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or green card holder
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
