Job Summary:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the parts department to ensure efficiency, consistency, and dexterity.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain strong relationships while working with Department managers, vendors, and customers.
- Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Develop, expand, and manage customer relationships to enhance parts sales.
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.
- Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
- Instruct staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales.
- Assist in forecasting goals and objectives for the parts department.
- Collaborate with service managers to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs.
- Provides technical assistance to parts department employees.
- Monitors parts department employees' payroll records.
- Handles customer complaints immediately.
- Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
- Maintains professional appearance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
- Knowledge of industry, including marketing plans, security and safety programs.
- Strong strategic thinking and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet programs such as Excel.
- Sales and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Mathematical skills to help manage the inventory, pricing and estimates
- Problem-solving skills to deal with parts inventory issues
- Previous mechanic or sales experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Product knowledge to ensure they identify parts correctly and recommend the needed parts
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in the industry
- Previous experience in a parts department
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, reach, push and pull, squat
- Able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
