We have a great career opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant (Sportsbook) to join a leading investment group and one of South Africa’s recognised and respected brands at their offices in Cape Town. You will work their betting group and be responsible for managing and optimizing all finance functions across the Group Betting businesses (spread across Africa and Eastern Europe) in order to ensure statutory compliance, drive and report on bottom-line performance and optimize cashflow in line with the group’s strategy and budgets. Your key job responsibilities as the Group Financial Accountant (Sportsbook) in Cape Town will include:
- Preparing and tracking performance to budgets
- Optimize operational systems and processes across the finance department in order to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
- Manage all suppliers and payments in order to optimize cash flow
- Manage and maintain tax compliance for all relevant taxes (including but not limited to Gambling Tax, VAT, Employee Tax and Income Tax)
- Oversee and manage the full accounting function for the group betting businesses in order to produce management accounts efficiently and accurately
- Analysing of management accounts and making recommendations to the CEO
- Oversee and manage the payments department in order to manage risk, prevent fraud and process customer payments efficiently and accurately
- Assist the people department in administering the payroll efficiently and accurately
- Work with all relevant departments to manage risk and ensure compliance with applicable legislation (including but not limited to the Gambling Act, Companies Act, FICA and POPI)
- Oversee and manage the annual audit for all Group Betting companies
Requirements for this Group Financial Accountant (Sportsbook) job in Cape Town:
- Proven work experience in a relevant role
- Degree in Accounting, qualified CA or any relevant tertiary education
- Experience in using Xero or similar accounting platforms
- Ability to work independently
- Strong management and communication skills
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Proficiency in English
