Your key job responsibilities as the Observability (Monitoring) Engineer in Cape Town will include:
- System Administration of Observability solutions
- Building dashboards with Observability tools (Logging, Metrics, Tracing)
- Maintain Observability of Infrastructure and Applications in Dev and Production
- Maintenance, continuous improvement and automation of alerting tools and pipelines
- Enhance our technology optimisation through regular evaluation and research
- Coaching and Mentoring of team members
- Observability evangelist
- Maintaining and updating documentation
- Administration and development of user Guides
Requirements for this Observability (Monitoring) Engineer job in Cape Town:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or another related field. Or equivalent work experience
- 2 years’ experience with Enterprise and Open Source applications such as: Elastic Search, InfluxDB, Prometheus, SCOM, Graphite, Azure Monitor
- Experience in some of the following languages: Powershell, Python, Ruby, Java, Painless
- Have utilised or supported enterprise logging solutions: Splunk/Splunk Cloud, Elastic, Loki
- Have worked with Grafana V 8, ELK and Prometheus would be an advantage
- Strong troubleshooting ability
- A solid background in IT support and monitoring that will command the respect of the team
- Good technical judgement and decision making
- Experience launching and supporting complex production systems at large scale
- Excellent problem solving and strong communication skills
- A passion for and experience with automation
