Interested in a software developer role that's a bit different from the norm? Interrupt Labs is growing our software development team to support the cutting-edge research performed by our vulnerability researchers. You will work side by side with our world-leading research team to solve weird and wacky problems that have never been tackled before.
Our researchers work to find vulnerabilities in everything from smartphones to cars. You will work in a small team of researchers and developers to blend a deep understanding of platforms such as Android, iOS and Linux with well-tested and robustly engineered software.
At Interrupt Labs we know that everyone learns in their own way, and that the technical challenges we come across require unique skills that you won't see in a typical software role, including:
- Reverse engineering the internals of software
- Reimplementing system internals to expose unintended functionality
- Diving deep into the architectures of unusual systems
- Finding ways to create robust tooling in unusual environments
You will be given the time and space you need to develop these skills, supported by experienced researchers and developers. Your first project at Interrupt Labs will be an internal project to give you a feel for our kind of work. Once you join one of our research teams, you will be given time to get up to speed with their platform and work towards delivering on requirements.
This role requires you to be eligible for a UK security clearance.
Skills & Qualities
We are looking for applicants who have any of the following:
- Confidence to tackle novel and complex problems
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team of researchers and developers
- Good communication skills to interact with other team members and our customers
- Prior experience in software development including any of:
- High level programming languages such as Python
- Low level programming languages such as C and C++
- Assembly or other low level architecture internals
- Platform specific languages such as
- Kotlin/Java for Android
- Objective-C/Swift for iOS
- C# for Windows
- Experience with system internals of any platform such as, but not limited to, Linux, Android and iOS
- Experience with automated build systems such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitHub Actions
