Development QA Engineer
The Development Quality Assurance (DQA) Engineer is responsible for Design Controls & Risk Management as part of cross-functional teams responsible for new product introduction. Quality assurance duties may include Quality Planning, Design Controls, Risk Management, Process Management Change Control, Requirements Management, and Traceability Management. In this role, you will utilize an understanding of the regulatory, industry, and internal requirements to conduct independent assessments of engineering compliance to ensure fulfillment of same, ensuring products are capable, robust, and meet all applicable requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure regulatory, procedural, and contractual requirements are fulfilled during product development/introduction phases
- Establish and execute project quality plan, witness-points, quality assurance audits, and quality records for compliance
- Witness and audit test procedures to ensure conformity
- Witness and audit hardware and software development process to plans to ensure compliance
- Plan and coordinate with the team for personnel coverage of audit & witness requirements
- Ensure Lessons Learned are taken into account for new proposals and programs
- Work for continuous improvement in processes and execution
- Identify needs/causes/trends, present analysis of research, develop and communicate potential resolutions
- Deliver quality products as part of a cross-functional team
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Quality or Engineering)
Eligibility requirement(s):
- Ability and willingness to meet required Travel expectations: ~30%
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within a relevant Quality or Engineering position
- Strong convictions regarding quality, safety, and processes; tempered with the flexibility to meet needs without compromising requirements
- Quality auditor experience
- Experience with industry standards AS9100 and AS9145 (APQP)
- Experience in development/qualification testing
- Command of engineering development inputs, outputs, interdependencies, and business cases
- Experience with aerospace regulations and standards pertaining to aviation product development specifically, 14 CFR Part 25, ARP4754A, DO-178C, and DO-254
- Experience with development of embedded software or complex airborne electrical systems
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated root cause corrective action skills
- Ability to influence others; lead small teams and initiatives
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
- Experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact
- Expertise in standard Microsoft Office programs
- Experience reviewing/generating FAIs in accordance with AS9
