Your Job
As the Team Lead - Project Management, you are expected to have a deep knowledge of project management and its processes. You are to establish standards associated with your expertise, train your team on those standards, and ensure their projects are following those standards. You will oversee a team of individual contributors. You will be ultimately accountable for the success of all the projects your team manages by training your team on the standards of your specialty.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Develop and maintain of a culture that has mission, vision, and five core values fully in focus at all times
- Meet and exceed internal, external, billable, and hourly rate goals
- Meet and exceed revenue goals and resourcing commitments for the team
- Provide coaching and guidance to your team
- Pick three key areas of project management skills improvement for your team
- Work within your department to make the improvement areas transparent to everyone in the department.
- Develop metrics for independently assessing if those skills are improving.
- Align your team and projects so that there is a detailed accounting of projects that are within your team’s purview and who is the primary and backup SME for each project.
- Work directly with clients to oversee and implement projects and processes. Work with clients on issues and escalate when needed.
- Ensure projects on your team are executed consistently, following KDG Project Management standards
- Continue to improve the quality of KDG project management standards to ensure that we are providing value to our clients and a high-quality customer experience.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Work with department leads to plan out resource availability and allocation
- Define project management team onboarding and trainings for new hires to cut down on time it takes for a new hire to become productive.
- Work with other department team leads and AVPs to suggest process improvements and supplemental documentation.
- Seek ways to continuously improve our project management requirements and standards.
- Ensure that the project lifecycle from first contact with a client has a well-defined process that aids in our follow-through and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in leadership activities in your department.
- Recommend to direct supervisor additional departmental positions that should be created or changes that should be made within your team.
- Regularly communicate to senior leadership the status on objectives, KPIs, and concerns
- Uphold the response time and service quality standards that are expected for all others to follow
- Be available on email and Cliq during non-working hours to expedite company objectives or get involved in significant client concerns
Success Factors
Your team knows all five values, how they are applied to daily work, and can provide specific examples of where they were lived or not lived
- Meet or exceed all KPI goals for team
- Revenue goals are met with proper resourcing and efficiency. Few to no questioned timelogs.
- Skills improvement items are clearly documented, with specific examples for successful execution of learned skills, a learning path for accomplishing, and regular check-ins to determine that the learned skills are being put into practice regularly. All skills and the team’s appearance thereof are regularly reported to the departmental VP.
- All projects within your team’s purview have two or more SMEs that are either working on the project team (primary SME) or have enough knowledge of the project to effectively work on the team, if needed (backup SME). All are fully capable of extending or supporting any part of the project.
- Ensure that your team follows established processes (i.e. onboarding, training, and project processes) to complete satisfaction.
- Active contribution and communication within the Leadership Team
Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Experience
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in a project management role
- Minimum of 5 years work experience managing teams and executing projects
- Experience in website/software project lifecycle management
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or better required
- Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies, and methods
- PMP or CAPM certification is a plus
- Business analysis experience is a plus
- Exceptional problem solving, organizational, and prioritization skills required
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to use independent judgement and take personal initiative
- Superior verbal and written communication
- Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to maintain focus over an extended period
- Ability to work in Allentown, Pa office when necessary
