Learning Support Assistant
A college that specialises in specialist further education in Yeovil is looking for a LSA to start ASAP until the end of the academic year on a fixed term contract. Pay rate is £104 - £115 per day.
This is an independent college that provides a very tailored approach. Pupils have a range of needs including autism, moderate to severe learning disabilities, ranged behaviour, and emotional and complex needs. The caring environment encourages success of both the students and the staff. This is a college that specializes in being able to support adults in building skills to take with them into their everyday life. The aim is to help young adults to progress with use of various therapies, vocational subjects, and sensory focused learning.
The leadership team has a strong focus on recruiting staff with the right skills and experience to help their students prepare for the next stage of their life after college. Lessons are adapted to help students in both education and the community. Role Requirements
- Experience working in a similar role
- Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate with individuals with PMLD and interpret their responses and intentions
- Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrating understanding and compassion towards people with PMLD
- Adaptability: Being flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of a person with PMLD
- Possession of enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to complete one
