Introduction
Our UK team is looking for a Product Manager who is passionate about creating innovative market-leading primary educational products that will help teachers teach and children learn. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, start-up/subject matter expert environment across a suite of maths, literacy, training and assessment products.
Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be required to lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects from concept to publication and beyond. You will be expected to consider Customer needs (i.e. teacher, parent and pupil)at all times, discover gaps in the market and investigate how far to push the boundaries of educational print and digital content in a post-Covid world.
This role is suited to someone who can thrive in a reactive environment while balancing the innovative and creative aspects of the role. You must be driven to deliver what needs to be done to succeed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Help to set and support the long-term vision and strategy for specific products
- Act as the Product ‘CEO’ for assigned products, (e.g. creating a product roadmap, commissioning and evaluating content, ensuring the product meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders and planning product marketing)
Main Responsibilities
- Devising and managing market research to test propositions within the core customer segments
- Assessing market competition and customer needs
- Developing commercially successful propositions (print, digital and professional development offerings)
- Working closely with sales, marketing and customer services to develop and/or refine customer value
- Managing, discovering and retaining key author talent, commissioning content and building strong relationships with authors, Series Editors, and educational consultants and partners
- Leading cross-functional teams to ensure products are delivered on time, to desired quality and to budget
- Briefing and/or training customer-facing teams on products, services and the changing market landscape
Our ideal candidate's skills & experience
- 5+ years experience working within educational publishing in a senior editorial or marketing capacity
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, motivate others and get results
- Ability to make pragmatic decisions
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
