Senior Structural Draughts person  at mPower People Solutions

REPORTS TO

Department Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time

PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE 

This position is responsible for performing technical tasks in building and engineered structures draughting and production fields. For technical tasks usually reports to a technical director or project leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Draughting site plans, geometric setting out and detailed layouts of all structures
• Prepare detailed structural concrete and structural steel drawings to conform to SANS codes
• Self-check all work prior to passing on to the project leader for final checking
• Assist with measurement of quantities
• Assist with preparation of structural concrete and structural steel tender documents
• Issue drawings and schedules once approved for construction
• Check structural steel fabrication drawings and fabrication in the fabricator’s yard and on-site erection of structural steel were required by the project leader 
• Keep careful records, drawings, schedules, issue records and quality documentation as instructed by the project leader
• Adhere to ISO 9001 quality assurance standards
• Mentor, train, supervise and check any draughtspersons, technicians in all structural drawing, approval of shop drawings, site inspections, snag lists and quality documentation and standards as delegated by the department manager
• Perform any function of authority as and when delegated by the department manager
• Be updated with the latest draughting and structural steel and reinforcement related computer packages 
• Assist with archiving of projects
• Required to perform any other duties which may be required from time to time by the department manager or project leader

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• National Diploma (Civil Engineering or equivalent) 
• Minimum 10 years structural draughting experience in concrete and structural steel
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated to produce accurate drawings to a high standard within set deadlines
• Ability to work well within a team and positive attitude to your work 
• Identifies and understands technical issues, problems and opportunities
• Working with project guidelines and standards
• Complete quality drawings and documents within a required timeframe

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

• Experience working on major building projects
• Experience working on major bridge projects preferable 
• Ability to work well within team and positive attitude to your work 
• Strive to deliver projects on time and to budget
• Understand the use and importance of standards in the application of software tools
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software (advantage)
• Reinforcement Detailing experience (advantage)
• Develop 3D models in the selected modeling software i.e. Revit (advantage)
