We are seeking an experienced Trucking Fleet Manager to oversee our container export operations in New York. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of our trucking fleet operations, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of export containers while maximizing efficiency, maintaining compliance, and controlling costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of our container trucking fleet, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching
- Optimize fleet utilization and driver productivity to meet export schedules and customer requirements
- Coordinate with port authorities, shipping lines, and terminals to ensure smooth container movements
- Monitor and enforce DOT, FMCSA, and other regulatory compliance requirements
- Oversee fleet maintenance program to ensure vehicle reliability and safety
- Implement and maintain digital fleet management systems and tracking technologies
- Develop and manage relationships with third-party carriers when additional capacity is needed
- Analyze performance metrics and prepare regular operational reports
- Lead, train, and develop a team of dispatchers, drivers, and support staff
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address client needs
- Manage fleet-related expenses within budgetary constraints
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications Required
- 5+ years of experience in transportation management, preferably in container drayage operations
- Proven experience managing a trucking fleet of 15+ vehicles
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and FMCSA compliance requirements
- Familiarity with New York/New Jersey port operations and container export procedures
- Experience with fleet management software and transportation management systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing teams of 10+ employees
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Knowledge of international shipping procedures and documentation
- Experience with intermodal transportation operations
