About native

Native helps students have the best time at University through amazing experiences. The UK student market is broken, causing a fragmented, disconnected uni life which is letting down Gen Z in a big way - out of 2.66 million students in the UK, nearly half now feel they are not getting the university experience they want. Our event management platform gives Students’ Unions total control over events, and students a simple way to manage their experiences at uni. To compete against external venues and clubs, SUs need an event management platform designed for students, that maximises engagement, ticket sales and user experience - the only platform designed for university campus events.

The role

This is native’s second-ever PM hire - we’re just now taking the step from having a single product, a single backlog, to working on multiple strategies simultaneously and independently.  This is a milestone moment for us as a product and as a team, so this is an incredibly important hire - we want someone who can be a real thought-leader and strategy-setter in their stream, and that will come with a huge opportunity to be visible and to progress.

Native’s core technology product is a Ticketing platform, with ambitions to be much more than that to the student community in the future.  The Students’ Union on each campus is a key partner to us in becoming a ‘must use’ event-discovery portal.  In return, we want to be an easy choice for them for their ticketing services solution: a competitive feature set to large commercial ticketing platforms, but with University-ecosystem integrations and segment-specific features on top.  We’ve made incredible progress on the integrations and some really differentiating features over the last year or so, and we’ve had some great momentum signing up SUs this year, but to keep up that progress, we think we need to dive deeper now into industry-leading promotional and engagement features for events.  Which will involve some ‘catch-up’ with the existing leaders in the commercial ticketing space, but also, of course, some first-principles thinking to solve the underlying problems that Event Managers and Promoters face in a University campus context specifically!

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Own that strategic objective of catching up with and overtaking our specialist Ticketing competition, and making Native the ticketing platform of choice for Event Managers at Student Unions
  • Use your insight into the competitive landscape and the “Event Promoter” persona to ideate a broad and exciting product vision to achieve that goal
  • Work independently to conduct research, pick the right KPIs, plan your roadmap, work with developers and iterate the backlog, to deliver your vision
  • Bring your expertise from product-managing elsewhere (perhaps as part of a larger team in a more mature company) to help keep the growing Native product team continuously learning and improving

Your opportunity:

  • Be part of the early stage of an exciting journey for a young startup, but with some momentum and a strong foothold already under its belt
  • Progress from perhaps a mid-level PM to a highly visible, strategic product leader
  • Have a lot of autonomy to address the problem as you see fit
  • Use your insight into the ‘art of the possible’ in the world of ticketing and events to bring cutting-edge tech and problem-solving to the campus world, and help students discover events and friendships more easily post-Covid
