Job Summary:
The Counselor provides individual and/or group therapy for patients receiving treatment for alcohol and/or drug addiction under supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. This role acts as a mediator between patients, relatives, medical staff, and outside agencies if needed.
Responsibilities:
- Interview consumers and complete intake assessments
- Implement the Twelve Core Functions of Substance Abuse
- Document prompt, accurate progress notes and treatment plans
- Provide effective individual, group, and family counseling specific to addiction treatment
- Perform discharge planning or referrals to inpatient settings when necessary
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training events
- Keep up-to-date on licensure, continuing education credits, and credentials
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Work experience in substance abuse treatment facility
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Required Qualifications:
- CADC - Master's degree in social services, substance abuse, behavioral health, or related field AND approved to work under supervision by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health
- LADC/LPC/LCSW - Master's degree in substance abuse, behavioral health, social or health services with 1+ year's experience AND licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health
- Education and/or work experience in substance abuse treatment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of private information in accordance with HIPAA
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and urine drug test
- Drug free and out of treatment (if applicable) for at least two (2) years immediately prior to employment
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Physical/ADA Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
