Application Support Engineer at Penfold

We’re looking for an Application Support Engineer to join our team. Here are some of the things you’ll help us with:

• Be a customer experience champion by triaging issues that affect our 40,000 customers
• Supporting our Operations and Account Management team to ensure critical tasks are completed within our SLAs
• Pairing with other engineers on our product development team to resolve application errors
• Using our monitoring tools to identify performance issues and working with our Platform Engineer to resolve them
• Collaborate with the product team to provide feedback on user experience and identify areas for improvement
• Automating as many of the BAU tasks as possible so you can focus on high-value problems
• Create technical documentation for our internal knowledge base

We use the following toolset:

• Sentry
• Grafana
• Typescript
• React
• PostgreSQL
• Cypress + Jest
• AWS
• Terraform for creating infrastructure-as-code
• Agile development practices (Kanban, pair programming, CI/CD)

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Have experience writing code in Javascript/Typescript
• Have exposure to SQL and can use queries to diagnose application issues
• Are data-driven and able to interrogate metrics and analytics to help inform decisions
• You have strong verbal and written communication at both the technical and non-technical level
• You are based in the UK or Europe, within a GMT +/-2 time zone

We’d especially love to hear from you if you:

• Have worked in an application support role before
• Have experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Have experience using/creating Bash scripts
