The role
We’re looking for a data-driven, customer centric and solution-oriented CRM Manager to take our customer comms journey to the next level and find new opportunities to drive business growth. You’ll be a member of our dynamic, supportive 8-person marketing team where each member has full ownership to drive performance in their respective area.
As Penfold’s CRM Manager you’ll be central to delivering effective automation to enhance customer experience and grow our bottom line through the successful implementation of our CRM nurture program.
Reporting into the Head of Performance Marketing you’ll have complete ownership to initiate, build, test and send campaigns that enhance our customer lifecycle strategy. You'll be a member of the marketing team, working with Brand, Content and Performance members but also work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations and Data teams.
You’ll be a passionate marketer who puts the customer at the centre of their decision making and campaign execution as well as being excited about new ideas and the performance of your activity. You’ll have strong functional skills coupled with a creative eye.

Here’s some of the stuff you’ll be doing:
⦁ Manage our email marketing strategy, making sure our activity is relevant to the customer mindset
⦁ Create new and develop existing CRM journeys for Penfold users and leads, with a focus on improving lifetime value, user engagement and retention to support our business objectives
⦁ Continually improve our CRM activity through rigorous testing and by identifying new opportunities, ensuring we are always building on our knowledge and driving performance
⦁ Champion a data-driven approach to our activity, using figures to influence and enhance storytelling and retention
⦁ Optimise our customer segmentation to serve the right message to the right customer at the right time through the right channel.
⦁ Work across email and push with a hands-on approach to creating content in our ESP
⦁ Analyse data to enhance your understanding of our customers and deliver insights that drive personalised experiences, sharing with the wider team
Skills and experience:
⦁ 4+ years CRM experience, ideally in a high-growth environment and with a focus on triggered lifecycle journeys
⦁ Comprehensive understanding of email marketing channels combined with a track record of driving business results through customer communications
⦁ Advanced experience using email service providers and data management platforms
⦁ Passionate about creating engaging and personalised campaigns
⦁ Confident challenging the status quo and backing up questions with data
⦁ Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
⦁ A data-driven approach to testing, learning, and optimising
⦁ An analytical approach that focuses on understanding customer behaviour and planning around data-driven insights
⦁ Be up to date on email best practices and work to ensure they are being followed

Our Office
We’re a remote first business although we have a large private office at Uncommon Borough, a large co-working space full of other awesome tech startups and more plants than a garden centre.
Uncommon has their own exercise studio for free weekly Yoga and HIIT classes, a discounted office masseuse & beauty squad, monthly drinks & Tuesday teatime, bike racks, showers, an excellent café, and a whole bunch of communal spaces you can work from when you need a change (including a roof terrace).
We’re 6 minutes walk from London Bridge station & Borough Market (and 30 seconds walk from Borough station).
Our application process
We’ll have a very quick introductory call to properly introduce you to Penfold, find out more about your experience so far and career aspirations, and make sure you get a chance to ask any questions you might have.
Then they’ll be a take-home task / role-play exercise so we get a better feel for how you work. And finally, we’ll organise a session with one of our Co-Founders and a small group of people from around the business.
