The role
We’re looking for an experienced Office Manager or Assistant that’s enthusiastic about becoming a key part of our next chapter of growth. This person will be the go-to-person for employees and the first representative of Penfold externally.
We’re a fast-paced and dynamic team with hugely ambitious plans for the next year. The Office Manager role is about supporting the team and leadership team as we grow.
Even more importantly, this role is about becoming the main champion of our culture. We want to someone who’s as passionate about making Penfold a great place to work as we are.
The role covers a broad range of Office Management tasks and general admin support for the leadership team. We want this person to feel real ownership and investment in making sure that everyone is set up for success.

Here’s some of the stuff you’ll be doing at first:
⦁ Find a new office space for us to move into this Summer
⦁ Manage the move into a new office and make the new space a great place to work in – this will involved organising everything the team will need to work from the office and making it a really nice place to spend time in
⦁ General management of the office making sure its tidy and well stocked with snacks, drinks and fun stuff!
⦁ Organise our social calendar: we hold weekly team lunches, a monthly after-work social event and then a big quarterly company event including off-sites and Christmas parties
⦁ Support with new starters onboarding – we’re planning to hire a lot of new joiners in the next few months, part of your role will be making sure they get onboarded effectively and welcomed into Penfold properly
⦁ Help leadership team with any admin tasks including scheduling
Skills and experience:
⦁ Experience working in Executive / Personal Assistant roles with senior leadership teams
⦁ Experience as office manager (preferably in start-up / scale-up environments)
⦁ Experience selecting and moving into a new office, and managing ongoing services and facilities
⦁ Experience planning and organising company social events (e.g., company off-sites)
⦁ Be excited about being the go-to-person in a young, fast-growing team
⦁ Detail orientated and able to take the initiative with projects – we want this person to see that something that we’re doing could be improved and come forward with a solution to make things better
⦁ Willingness and flexibility to get stuck in and help on anything – no problem should be too small if it’s impacting the team

Our Office
We’re a remote first business although we have a large private office at Uncommon Borough, a large co-working space full of other awesome tech start-ups and more plants than a garden centre.
Uncommon has their own exercise studio for free weekly Yoga and HIIT classes, a discounted office masseuse & beauty squad, monthly drinks & Tuesday teatime, bike racks, showers, an excellent café, and a whole bunch of communal spaces you can work from when you need a change (including a roof terrace).
For this role, we’d expect you to be in the office nearly all the time and by exception work from home.
We’re 6 minutes walk from London Bridge station & Borough Market (and 30 seconds walk from Borough station).
Our application process
We’ll have a very quick introductory call to properly introduce you to Penfold, find out more about your experience so far and career aspirations, and make sure you get a chance to ask any questions you might have.
Then they’ll be a role-play exercise so we get a better feel for how you work. And finally, we’ll organise a session with one of our Co-Founders and a small group of people from around the business.
